Family Ministry

MATTHEW  18:5-6

And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me. But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea. Teaching kids is a huge responsibility. We must take it seriously and do it well. Prepare well, speak truth, and remember they are God’s kids first.

Vision Statement

We desire our youth/children to follow Jesus Christ and start a process of becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ by following the Buffalo Baptist Church Mission Statement: "Worship, Grow, Love, Serve." To accomplish this mission, we have three goals we want to see take place in each child/youth in our ministries:

  • They desire to know and love Jesus increasingly every day. Worship and Grow.
  • They honor the authorities that God has placed in their lives. Grow and Love.
  • They boldly share the character, traits, and attributes of God to their neighbors (everyone). Love and Serve.

How We Achieve These Goals

How we accomplish this with Children:

We believe we can accomplish this vision in our children/youth ministries by the time they leave or graduate from our youth department. Here is how we breakdown and accomplish each goal in our "Vision Statement":

  1. GOAL #1 - They desire to know and love Jesus increasingly every day. We at Buffalo Baptist Church are striving to provide a biblical and family friendly atmosphere where your child can grow in the “discipline and instruction of the LORD.” There is only one catch – none of this is possible without the parents. We want to partner with parents by equipping you with tools and resources to grow as disciples (follower) of Jesus Christ yourselves, as well as assist you in becoming the primary disciple-makers (making followers of Jesus) of your children. Our desire is creating a passion within our children to know and love Jesus with all their hearts through our creative and engaging age-appropriate programs and curriculum at regularly scheduled gatherings throughout the week. As much as we love to come together, this desire cannot be fulfilled in a multitude of service gatherings but must be modeled and emulated within the home. Parents, you are vital to your child’s love for Jesus! We want partner with you to accomplish this goal.
  2.

  3. GOAL #2 - They honor the authorities that God has placed in their lives. We want to promote humility and submission to the proper authorities in our children’s lives, understanding that if they can willingly submit to their authorities here on earth, then they can do so with King Jesus. We strive to have a regular rhythm of extra-curricular activities. Through these activities, we can show them how to lead by being a servant first and submit to the authorities God has placed over their lives.
  4.

  5. GOAL #3 - They boldly share the character, traits, and attributes of God to their neighbors. It is not enough to say, “I attend church every week or go to the activities”; we are also called to tell others about their need for Christ. After a student becomes enamored with who Jesus is and what He is about (Love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind), we want to teach them how to conduct themselves with others (Love your neighbor as yourself). We strive to accomplish this through regular opportunities to serve and love our community as Christ would. Our church is also engaged in regular mission outreach programs that will allow our youth/children to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our community.

We seek to walk side by side with the parents in our community to help teach our children what it means to Worship, Grow, Love, and Serve Jesus Christ at Buffalo Baptist Church. How we accomplish this with parents:

We believe the church best reflects our Savior Jesus Christ by being a multi-national and multi-generational congregation. We believe the future of the church is through our children/youth. The church and the family are both institutions created and ordained by God. Their missions are similar: to know God and to make Him known to the world. The mission at Buffalo Baptist Church is that we Worship, Grow, Love, and Serve. Here is how we will accomplish the mission within our family ministries:

  1. Parents embracing their roles as disciple-makers. Worship and Grow
  2.

  3. The church supporting the parents in the disciple-making process. Grow and Love
  4.

  5. Both parents and the church body modeling for our children and youth what it means to truly follow Jesus. Love and Serve
